ULTRASOUND CERTIFICATION AND ACCREDITATION
Why They are Important to You
Our ultrasound department is accredited by the American
Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM). This means our practice has
demonstrated competency in every aspect of our operation, including the
education and training of the doctors and our sonographer, ultrasound
equipment, document storage, policies safeguarding patients and accuracy in
diagnosis. To become accredited, we had to go through a lengthy process and
provide proof that we meet or exceed nationally accepted standards in all of
these areas. We must reapply for accreditation every three years. This
provides our patients with the assurance of safety, accuracy and
professionalism during their exam.
Our ultrasound department is staffed by a Registered
Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RMDS), who has many years of experience in
OB/Gyn ultrasound. She and the physicians continue to attend training that
keep them aprised of the most recent advances in ultrasound.
