Jill Murray, M.D., FACOG

My journey to Colorado Springs has taken me almost all the way around the country! I was born and grew up in Detroit, MI. I even went to Wayne State University on a full scholarship, and graduated, cum laude, with a degree in biology. I then moved on to Michigan State University and received my MD in 1992. That’s when I started to expand my horizons. I moved to Columbia, South Carolina and completed my residency in 1996. At the completion of my residency, I felt like I had the opportunity to move wherever I wanted. I was single, my family lived all over, and the job market for a female OB/GYN was wide open.

After much research and soul searching, I knew I wanted to be close to the mountains. I interviewed several places, but ultimately decided that Colorado Springs was to be my new home. I joined Women’s Associates in 1996, and have been here ever since. I met my husband on a hike with friends in 1999, and within a year we were married. We now have two beautiful sons. I feel so lucky to be in a place where I can enjoy so much beauty and outdoor activities. I also love the water, and do miss it, but we fit in dive vacations at least once a year.

I have never regretted my decision to go into OB/GYN. It is a demanding, and sometimes stressful job, but the rewards are amazing. I can still get teary when I see parents meeting their new baby for the first time. That’s when I know I’m doing exactly the right thing!
