Pam Richards, M.D., FACOG

I grew up in a small Midwest town at an elevation of 630 feet – quite a change from our 6035 foot elevation.  I stayed in the ‘lowlands’ for college, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Illinois University in 1981 and then getting a Masters degree in Zoology with an emphasis in cell biology in 1982.  Having exhausted all the education that EIU could offer me at that point, I went to work at University of Illinois in Chicago.  I did genetic research on exotic subjects such as “The Effects of Thymidine Analogs on Eukaryotic DNA Replication”.  After several years, I missed the interaction with people (cell cultures just don’t talk much!)  and decided to go to medical school, thus fulfilling my father’s fear that I was going to be a professional student!  After four years at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, I stayed on there for my OB/GYN residency.  After that, I moved to Colorado and never looked back, joining Women’s Associates in 1992.

My husband and I married in 1998 and have 2 wonderful children.  We enjoy the outdoors and hike and ski as much as we can.  I feel very lucky to be able to practice in such a wonderful area with such wonderful partners.  I love delivering babies and still marvel at what a miracle birth is!  I have many patients that I have followed for years, from having babies to menopause, and feel fortunate to be a part of their lives.
